after visiting the the original doughnut lounge in westport multiple times it was a very welcome sight to see this eatery branch out to a fresh location so close to home in downtown overland park.

while the westport original encompasses a few more square feet in size, the op version has a nice, homey, welcoming vibe with their seating and bar area. the menus are rich with eclectic, fluffy goodness and incorporate other local eatery favorites; q39 infact! they serve a mix of coffee choices and alcoholic libations including happy hour specials later in the day.

today i decided to partake in one of their classic signatures the cherry pie. thr cherry pie is a bismark stuffed generously with a mix of cherry pie filling and black walnut compote topped with a cream cheese icing and a mild caramel drizzle. the doughnut itelf was very appealing. soft, fluffy and just enough crisp to it; very well done. the filling with cream cheese icing may come across as sugar overload, but matched very well with the makeup of the doughnut itself. i paired the cherry pie with a white chocolate latte which gave me the added caffiene boost readying me for the days journey.

i recommend this eatery. its a specialty bakery so be ready to spend a little more for happiness (just over $6 and change), but the presentation of the shop along with the pleasing product are a big winner. their menu accomodates the gluten free population and you cant go wrong with with the happy hour pairing of the doughnuts provided. go check them out and support your local businesses!
