what started out as a perfect weater day; 65 degrees, no wind and no clouds, resulted in a choppy boat ride for 3 hours with minimal sea life.

this is the time of year when the grey whales migrate back to the bering sea from their brief winter vacation in baja. upwards of 50,000 mature whales and calfs make the return leg of their 12,000 mile journey. needless to say, we did not see .001 percent of that migration on our trip. this is not a complaint by any means, because a boat ride on the pacific is always welcome.

channel islands sport fishing was a good outfit. we found a groupon for $55 for 2 people; normal price being $50 per person. fifty dollars per person is still not outrageous compared to some of the past trips in canada and washington state. the captain and crew of 2 were knowledgeable and friendly. a full galley stocked with made to order burgers, dogs and beer was also a welcome site. overall, great fun.
