After a trek down the 5 from Mission Viejo, a quick stop in Carlsbad pushed us to decide our resting spot needed to be San Diego. The mid afternoon drive was very accommodating with minimal stop and go traffic. We decided to stop in at Paradise Point, at the recommendation of a friend, to see if this would be our area landing spot for the evening. Fully impressed on the drive into the resort and a great experience with the front desk concierge, we decided on 2 nights. Immediately, we would not be let down. Because of the dead period of the season we were able to get a room upgrade for an amazing price and opted for the junior suite facing Mission Bay. As with any older resort hotel there will be some give and take with updates or technology. Surprisingly enough, these challenges have so far been very minimal. The room is adequate in size with a King bed, large 55 inch tv (not my first worry with the outdoors so close), closed off bathroom with updated shower and a mud room for clothes and suitcase holding, witch is a very nice option. Now... the view.

Walking out of the back sliding door onto our private patio, we were greeted with a welcome surprise of Mission Bay. A great spot not only for watching the sunset, but every few minutes crew boats of all dynamics move up and down the channel. It’s water traffic, but a very calming and interesting watch as the boats and captains direct themselves in competition fashion.

All in all the first night experience was fabulous. Large California King bed, private patio and minimal to no neighbor noise.

Other mentionables are the proximity to downtown, touristy sites and onsite food options. Looking forward to day 2 and a walking tour of the USS Midway just down the causeway.
